Built in 1869, the Limestone Mansion is a beautifully restored Victorian bed and breakfast in the historic village of Cherry Valley, New York. Its striking limestone façade, original architectural details, and welcoming atmosphere offer guests the character of a historic home with the comforts of today.
Located a short drive from Cooperstown and the Glimmerglass Festival, the Mansion offers a peaceful setting for exploring the region's history, arts, dining, attractions, and scenic countryside.
A Mansion with a Story
Long before it became the Limestone Mansion, this Main Street property was home to the Hotel Eagle, which was destroyed by fire in 1866. Susan Belcher later purchased the site and had a grand new residence constructed of locally quarried limestone. The Belcher family called their home Roselawn, a name inspired by the extensive rose gardens that once surrounded the property.
Built around 1870, the home became known locally as the Belcher Mansion. More than 150 years later, many of its distinctive period features remain, including marble fireplaces, glass chandeliers, decorative stenciling, pocket doors and shutters, along with the impressive limestone exterior that has become its signature.
Historical accounts attribute the Mansion's design to architect Nelson Whipple, who was practicing in New York during this period. Today, the home continues its long history on Main Street, welcoming guests to experience a piece of Cherry Valley's architectural past.

Breakfast at the Limestone Mansion
Breakfast is an important part of the experience at the Limestone Mansion and is included with every stay. Each morning features a chef's-choice dish, with menus changing from day to day and offering a mix of sweet and savory favorites.
Our breakfasts are thoughtfully prepared in-house and may include freshly baked goods, seasonal fruit, and other morning selections alongside the day's featured dish. Coffee, a selection of Harney & Sons teas, and juice are also available to help you start your day before heading out to explore Cherry Valley, Cooperstown, and the surrounding area.

We offer a selection of optional enhancements designed to make your visit even more memorable. These can be added during the booking process or arranged with us directly.
Late Check-Out – $15 per hour
Extend your stay with a later departure time of up to 1:30 PM (standard check-out is 11:00 AM). A relaxed way to end your visit.
Additional Breakfast Guest – $18 adult | $12 child
Overnight guests may invite a friend or family member to join them for breakfast with advance notice. Breakfast is $18 per adult and $12 per child, subject to availability.

In partnership with Rose is a Rose florist, you can make a stay even more special with a custom floral arrangement waiting in your room upon arrival. Arrangements can be customized for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, or simply as a thoughtful surprise.
Meet Your Innkeepers
Our journey to the Limestone Mansion began long before we ever imagined becoming innkeepers. In 2014, we traveled from Colorado to Cooperstown when our youngest son played in a tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park. We fell in love with the area and kept finding reasons to return. In 2019, we purchased a home in Cooperstown and made the move to New York the following year.
Over the years, the Limestone Mansion was a property that had always caught our attention. When it came on the market in 2023, we decided to take a closer look—and fell in love with the house. In November of that year, we became its owners and began our own chapter in the Mansion's long history.
Along the way, we also fell in love with Cherry Valley itself. Its historic character, creative spirit, and wonderfully quirky small-town charm make it a special place to call home. We enjoy sharing both the Mansion and this corner of Upstate New York with the guests who come through our doors.
